1st International Congress on Social and Educational Inclusion. Challenging communication difficulties
Description
The “1st International Congress on Social and Educational Inclusion. Challenging communication difficulties” focuses on subjects who have communication difficulties and provides different analyses and proposals to enhance educational intervention. The congress has three sub-themes that are interconnected and relevant to the central theme: the Systems of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (SAACs) in educational environments, the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in educational intervention with people with communication difficulties, and Inclusive Pedagogies for students with these or other communication difficulties.
Objectives
Systems of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (SAACs) in educational environments make reference to the use of specific material and devices designed to enhance the expression of the subjects with communication difficulties. Guided by an optimal intervention, SAACs can substantially enhance the quality of life of the users. The proposals sent to this sub-theme should focus on the use of SAACs and explicitly address the benefits they provide to the users.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in educational intervention refer to the information systems that enable an adequate communication in the classroom. These systems also enhance the processes of teaching and learning. Therefore, the proposals sent to this sub-theme should focus on the use of the ICT with subjects with communication difficulties.
Inclusive Pedagogies with people with communication difficulties address the use of an inclusive framework to enhance intervention with subjects who have difficulties in communication. Inclusive pedagogy is about providing for meaningful participation and communication opportunities and, therefore, they benefit teaching and learning processes. Thus, the proposals sent to this sub-theme should focus on the use of these pedagogies with subjects with communication difficulties.
