Description
Antonio Vercher will analyse the penal system in the matter of crimes against the environment.
Antonio Vercher will analyse the penal system in the matter of crimes against the environment and the actions of the Environmental Public Prosecutor's Office in relation to these crimes, making an assessment of their trajectory over the last 15 years. Prosecutor Vercher will touch upon recent administrative regulations, specifically the draft law on waste and the law on climate change, as well as some proposals for the future.

Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Antonio Vercher holds a PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge and a Master's degree from Harvard University / Fulbright Scholar. Since joining the public prosecutor's office in 1980, he has been based in Bilbao and Valencia (1983). In 1990 he was Coordinating Prosecutor for environmental matters at the High Court of Justice of Valencia until 1994, when he was appointed Prosecutor of the Technical Secretariat of the General State Prosecutor's Office. National Expert of the European Commission in Brussels, in 1996 he was promoted to the rank of Prosecutor of the Supreme Court. In 1999 he was appointed Counsel to the Court of Justice of the EC in Luxembourg, and in April 2006 he was appointed Public Prosecutor of the Coordinating Chamber for the Environment and Town Planning.
