Telecommunications Engineering from the UPC (1987) began her teaching career in Bilbao, with the creation of the new degree in Engineering Telecommunication. In 1995 she obtained the title of doctor and founded the research group Aholab (aholab.ehu.eus), of which she is the principal investigator. She is a professor in the area of Signal Theory and Communications. Currently teaches in several Master's programs in addition to the Degree in Telecommunication Technologies. He has been responsible for the inter-university doctoral program TICRM (www.ticrm.es) and has participated on several occasions in university management bodies. His lines of research include techniques of synthesis, conversion and transformation of speech, and the development of strategies that allow the use of the speech technologies by people with oral disabilities. In this field, she has been a principal investigator in more than 40 research projects and has published numerous scientific articles.

Telecommunication Engineer (UPV/EHU, 1996) and PhD in Information technologies (UPV/EHU, 2003), from 2000 she is a lecturer in the Communications Engineering Department, where she teaches courses about telecommunication engineering and speech technologies. She has taken part in more than 30 research projects, where she has actively contributed to the development of speech analysis and synthesis technologies, with special focus on the study of prosody and the improvement of synthetic speech naturalness and expressiveness. She has participated in several national and international evaluation campaigns for speech synthesis, speaker diarization and audio segmentation, with excellent results. She has published more than 100 research papers in the more relevant journals and conferences of her research topic. She acts also as a reviewer for the main journals and conferences of the area.

She is a professor at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU and holds a PhD in Mathematics from the Claude Bernard University of Lyon. She is a topology specialist. Interested in the dissemination of science, she has been participating for years in various activities at universities, scientific institutions, cultural or educational centers. She collaborates in medias, such as the program La Mecanica del Caracol on Radio Euskadi or the Network of Communicating Scientists of El Periódico in collaboration with the Esteve Foundation. She is the editor of the Women with Science blog of the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU. In 2015 she received the University of Alicante Equality Award and one of the Medals of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society in its first edition. In 2016 she was awarded the Emakunde Prize "for her scientific career aimed at disseminating and promoting the approach of mathematics and scientific knowledge to women, as well as for making visible and vindicating women scientists and their contributions to both the Academy and to social progress. In 2019 she received the appointment of Illustrious of Bilbao "for her work as a science communicator and for making visible the role of women in science."

Alfonso Valencia is a Biologist by training with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by the Universidad Autónoma, Madrid. He is ICREA Research Professor, Director of the Life Sciences Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), Director of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB-ISCIII), Head of the Spanish node of the European Infrastructure for Life-Science Information, ELIXIR and former president of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). As Computational Biologist Dr. Valencia is interested in the analysis of large collection of genomic information with particular emphasis in the study of protein interaction networks applied to (epi)Genomics, Cancer Biology and Precision Medicine. Alfonso Valencia has published more than 300 articles with an h-index of 84 (Scopus profile).
