Submission period for the Cross-Border Summer Courses now open
Submissions for the next edition can be sent in from 16 December 2024 to 19 January 2025
The 2025 Cross-Border Summer Courses will be held in Bayonne from 30 June to 4 July
The courses, which were started in 2022 by several universities and with the support of cross-border entities, have become enriching encounters for students and different stakeholders.
The Cross-Border Summer Courses seek to disseminate the knowledge generated in the universities and scientific institutions; the courses are aimed at the cross-border population, students and academia.
As regards their organisation, the period is now open to receive submissions to design the fourth edition to be held in Bayonne from 30 June to 4 July 2025.
The submissions must involve at least two public or private entities or institutions belonging to the different cross-border regions, two of which must be from different states. Furthermore, each director may only present one single submission.
As regards the themes for the courses, they can be on different scientific or social interests, but always from a cross-border perspective. Some of the suggested subject areas are architecture and urban development; culture and art; education; health; the economy; nutrition and culinary arts; science and technology; climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The courses are aimed at the general public, but also at academics, students and professionals. Reaching a younger audience will be particularly welcome. Accordingly, submissions should consider the possibility of involving doctors in training, young professionals or social stakeholders in order to encourage youth participation and covering themes that are of interest to them.
As regards the methodology and the format, participatory methodologies will be used, and which will include at least a final panel. The courses must be given in person, but participation can be in person or online.
The courses can be given in any of the official languages of the Nouvelle Aquitaine-Basque Country-Navarra Euroregion, i.e., in Basque, Spanish and French, with simultaneous interpreting adapted to the needs of each course provided.
The criteria to be taken into account when preparing the submissions are set out in the regulations and must be submitted through the Foundation Summer Courses of the UPV/EHU (UIK) platform.
Project developed in conjunction with public institutions and universities of the Euroregion
The Cross-Border Summer Courses were set up in 2022, thanks to the collaboration between the public universities of the Nouvelle Aquitaine-Basque Country-Navarra Euroregion, with the support of the region's key stakeholders. The project is the outcome of the cooperation between the following institutions: Bordeaux University (UB), the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), the UPV/EHU Summer Courses Foundation, Bordeaux Montaigne University (UBM), the University of Pau and the Adour Region (UPPA), the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), the Euskampus Foundation, CNRS/IKER, and the House of Human Sciences Bordeaux (MSH Bx); with the support of territorial authorities including Gipuzkoa Provincial Government, the Nouvelle Aquitaine-Basque Country-Navarra Euroregion, and the French Basque Country Greater Administrative District Council.
