From Personalized Nutrition to Precision Nutrition
Description
This Summer Course will be held online and will be broadcast between 16:00-20:30 in the afternoon to facilitate the attendance of Latin American students.
The main aim of this course is to define the characteristics of Personalized Nutrition and Precision Nutrition, explaining and detailing the differential nuances between both concepts. In addition, the course develops the integrative analysis of precision variables (age, sex, body phenotype, habitual dietary intake, physical activity levels and lifestyle) together with personalized issues (genetic background, epigenetic signatures, microbiota composition, gene expression profiles and metabolomic fingerprints) and their influence on the prescription of more individualized treatments, seeking to improve the nutritional and medical management of metabolic diseases of different etiology and the role of bioactive agents.
The course will include lectures by different national and American experts, specialists in various areas of application of Precision Nutrition, who will show the current and future uses and utilities.
Objectives
Show and explain the criteria of Precision Nutrition (multifactorial, integrative and holistic) showing the differentiating nuances with Personalized Nutrition (singular and individualized).
To show and explain the current and potential applications that personalized nutrition can have in the treatment and prevention of different diseases such as Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases, Liver Diseases, Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome, Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, etc.
