International conference on Novel 2D Materials Explored Via Scanning Probe Microscopy & Spectroscopy (2D-SPM)
Descripción
In recent years, research into new twodimensional (2D) materials has experienced exceptional growth and relevance given their technological potential. Just a decade after the discovery of the first two-dimensional material, graphene (Nobel Prize 2010), hundreds of 2D materials have already been synthesized with the most diverse properties. This has allowed, for the first time, to glimpse the possibility of engineering artificial materials from 2D materials with atomic precision and with tailored properties. In this sense, local probe techniques are particularly appropriate for the study of two-dimensional materials since, unlike most experimental techniques, they provide information about their atomic, electronic and magnetic structure in real space and with atomic resolution. For this reason, these techniques have recently acquired a fundamental role in the study of new 2D materials.
Organizing committee :
Miguel Moreno Ugeda (UPV/CSIC and DIPC associate) (chair)
Ivan Brihuega (UAM)
Objetivos
To present and discuss the state of the art in this promising field. The conference will be focused on the search for novel low dimensional materials, for which we will have the most renowned international scientists in the field.
To promote and foster interaction and collaborations among the most reputed international research groups in the field with both theoretical and experimental local groups in the Basque Country.
